Abstract:

The functional repair of skin injury remains a significant challenge in the clinic. Conventional treatments, such as skin grafting and wound dressings, often fail to achieve functional regeneration. In recent years, stem cell-based therapies have emerged as a promising strategy in this field. Among them, oral mesenchymal stem cells (OMSCs) have attracted considerable attention due to their unique advantages, including easy accessibility, multilineage differentiation capacity, and scarless regenerative potential. These properties make OMSCs a highly promising cell source for skin wound repair. This review summarizes recent advances in the distinctive advantages, underlying mechanisms, and the therapeutic potential of OMSCs in skin injury repair.
